Chasseur soviétique mis en service en 1952. Il équipa les forces aériennes des pays du pacte de Varsovie durant de nombreuses années. Le MiG-17 a été construit à plus de 6 000 exemplaires en URSS et a été fabriqué sous licence en Pologne et en Chine.
Employé lors de la guerre du Viet-nam face aux F-4 phantom, F-8 crusader, F-105 Thunderchief et autres appareils , le MiG-17 fut avec le Mig-21 l'un des deux avions qui obligea l' USAF à revoir ses tactiques de combat aérien. En effet, bien qu'assez ancien à cette époque, il se révéla un adversaire coriace pour les pilotes américains, difficile à détecter, très manœuvrable et doté d'un armement très respectable.

Ce modèle à été construit, sans train d'atterrissage, en janvier 2010.
Les Mig-17 nord-vietnamiens, avec ce camouflage "jungle", ont tenus tête à de très nombreux chasseurs de l'USAF et de l'US NAVY/ This model was built, without landing gear, in January, 2010.

CONSIGNES DE CONSTRUCTION :
- le train d'atterrissage peut être réalisé en option.
- Si vous réalisez le train d'atterrissage, ne pas oublier de découper les trappes du train pour que les jambes puissent sortir !
- vous pouvez réaliser des gouvernes mobiles pour les ailes
- La petite taille du Mig-17 rend très difficile la construction du train d'atterrissage. J'ai choisi d'insérer un aimant dans le fuselage et de poser la maquette sur un support en plexiglas.
- Le renfort des ailes est à faire passer en travers du fuselage avant d'y coller les ailes .
BUILDINGS INSTRUCTIONS :
- The landing gear can be realized optional.
- If you realize the landing gear, not to forget to cut the trapdoors of the train so that legs can go out!
- You can realize mobile steerings for wings
- The small size of Mig-17 makes very difficult the construction of the landing gear. I chose to insert a magnet into the fuselage and to put the model on a support in Plexiglas.
- The reinforcement of wings is to make pass across the fuselage before sticking it wings.
